Platinum Assay
A platinum assay helped to determine that platinum is one of the densest and heaviest metals, highly malleable, soft and ductile. It is extremely resistant to oxidation and to corrosion of high temperatures or chemical elements as well as a very good conductor of electricity and a powerful catalyzing agent. Platinum in a platinum assay is soluble only in aqua regia. The platinum assay shows a precious metal that has silvery white color and doesn’t tarnish. The production of platinum requires very complex processing techniques and the high melting points of platinum makes it very difficult to work with. It was only with the development of new refining techniques that the platinum assay was more widely used.
