DCP/ICP technology is "the correct" science to both assay and to process PGM’s. Testing and processing platinums at plasma temperatures (+3900° F) represents the state of the art science in PGM testing and beneficiation. The Russians and South African’s have focused on this technology for many years. Many labs, using improper and inferior ICP's often report values which are not accurate---are underestimated. They use outdated ICP's, most of which were never designed or appropriate for measuring precious metals. The vast majority of early stage ICP's, unlike predecessor DCP's, used inferior plastic optics (mirrors) to reflect the color wavelengths thorough the instrument. With each pass across the plastic optics, the highly defined wavelength loses resolution, thus losing intensity and metals' value.
Others testing facilities are also unaware of the proper methods, developed over 35 years in this lab, to properly prepare the sample for DCP/ICP testing. Here at Advanced Analytical the key to success is the proper ICP and proper preparation. Advanced Analytical/MRA Labs, LLC is the only lab to combine all of these techniques for highly reliable results.
Remember, each precious metal possesses five to six "lines" designated by each color wavelengths. This whole array of science was developed by MIT in the 1960’s and is now adopted and published by the United States Bureau of Weights and Measures.
